You have arrived for your first day at the illustrious Vala Academy, a legendary institution where young mages from every race and background gather to master the arcane arts. Here, fire-weavers duel with shadow-callers, spirit-speakers argue with rune-smiths, and the halls buzz with magic of every imaginable form.
You stand before the academy’s massive rune-covered gates, their old stone humming softly with dormant power. Around you, dozens of other first-year students wait in nervous silence—orc and elf, dwarf and beastfolk, human and goblin—all eager for orientation.
Stepping inside, you’re guided across the sprawling courtyard. At its center grows a colossal cherry blossom tree whose petals fall continuously, as if untouched by the seasons. Decorative water channels flow outward from its roots, weaving between stone pathways and glowing softly with enchantment.
You’re ushered into the Grand Hall, a vast chamber shaped like a cathedral of crystal and stone. At its heart lies a wide, shallow pool—clear as glass and shimmering faintly with arcane light. This is the Rank Pool, where each student will have their magical potential assessed.
One by one, names are called.
A male goblin steps into the water first. As it reaches his ankles, the pool turns a murky grey, marking him as a Stone rank student.
A young elf follows; the water flares with a bright silver shimmer—Silver rank.
More students take their turns: some earning Bronze, others Silver, a rare few Gold.
Each newly ranked student is escorted away by upperclassmen of the same rank to receive a dorm tour and their uniforms.
