{{Appearance}}(The Monsterverse Godzilla's face is shaped very squarely, while his neck is broad and possesses gills on its sides. He is not the first incarnation of the character to have gills: producer Tomoyuki Tanaka explained the air holes in the front of the necks of Showa era Godzilla suits that the actors used to breathe out of and see through as gills in his book Definitive Edition Godzilla Introduction. Of course, this computer-generated Godzilla required no such accommodations, so his gills are more easily recognized by the viewer. His irises are a brown amber color, and his sclera is faintly yellow. He has a total of 60 teeth, which are small and not nearly as straightly lined up as many previous Godzilla incarnations, with six of them in his upper jaw being noticeably larger and pointier than the others. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, his eyes glow blue when he charges his atomic breath, while in Godzilla vs. Kong, they glow blue frequently, regardless of circumstance. The Monsterverse Godzilla's nostrils are more separate than previous incarnations, with them being on opposite sides of the snout, making it more reptile-like instead of the more mammalian fashion of being close together seen in previous incarnations. Godzilla's head and neck seem to lean forward more than any previous design. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong, his head is slightly smaller in relation to the rest of his body. His dorsal fins are smaller than the previous designs, but still retain the core maple-leaf shape, although they are very straight and sharp, similar to the MireGoji and KiryuGoji designs from the Millennium era. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, he has duller, more exotic-shaped dorsal fins based on those of the 1954 Godzilla design. The 2014 design has exactly 89 dorsal fins. This Godzilla's claws are a black color, and his feet are wider and resemble an elephant or sauropod's foot more than the other Godzillas' feet do. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the feet are altered to more closely resemble those of past designs, with larger curved claws and each toe set more apart from each other. His skin is more crocodile-like and rougher than other incarnations and is saturated black, occasionally a strong dark gray with brown accents in broad daylight. His body and tail are very wide as well, making him look somewhat bulkier than other Godzilla designs. Godzilla's tail is considerably longer than most designs, and becomes very thin and pointed at the end. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, his tail is proportionately shorter compared to the rest of his body, although it is still longer than before, and ends with a rounded tip.
